{ARTISOFT PRELOADING NEWEST RELEASE OF

StationWare 2.0 Printer Serving, Remote Dial-Up And Laptop
Laptop Connectivity Applications Now PreLoaded At No Extra
Charge
(TUCSON, AZ -- December 22, 1992) -- Artisoft, Inc.announced
today that it is now preloading version 2.0 of its
StationWare applications on the Central Station connectivity
processor. These applications, available for both LANtastic
(R) and NetWare(R) Ethernet networks, are included in the
$595 price of the Central Station connectivity processor.
The Central Station connectivity processor is a modem-sized
multiport hardware device that connects a variety of
peripherals to a LANtastic or NetWare Ethernet network and
runs StationWare software to provide laptop connectivity,
remote dial-up and printer serving capabilities to network
users. Version 2.0 of the StationWare software is noted for
its increased printer serving performance and the inclusion
of the newly released remote dial-up capabilities for
NetWare users.
"Artisoft is committed to bringing the greatest value to its
customers and resellers," stated Dave Hallmen, Artisoft Vice
President of Sales & Marketing. "That's why we are including
our StationWare applications with the purchase of a Central
Station connectivity processor. Now, for under $600, users
can easily connect laptops to a network, both remotely and
locally, or set up convenient network printing locations
without using a PC."
The Central Station connectivity processor connects to
LANtastic or NetWare Ethernet networks running either thin
coax or 10BASE-T cabling. Users can quickly connect or
disconnect a variety of peripherals to its PC interface port
port, one parallel port or two serial ports without disrupt-
ing the network. The Central Station connectivity processor
comes preloaded with three StationWare applications and 128K
of onboard upgradeable RAM.
Printer Server StationWare software allows users to set up
printers in convenient locations, connecting them to a
Central Station port instead of a PC's expansion slot or
printer port. This software supports up to three printers --
one parallel and two serial. Each serial port communicates
at speeds of up to 38.4 kilobits per second and can be
configured individually for baud rate, type of parity and
number of stop bits.
Dial-Up Connection StationWare software adds remote access
access capabilities to the network through a modem attached
to the Central Station connectivity processor. Remote users
can dial in to the network and use all network resources
like files, e-mail and other applications as if their PCs
were attached locally.
For customers who bought Central Station connectivity
processors previously, when StationWare applications were
sold separately, Artisoft is offering the option of buying
StationWare 2.0 bundles for LANtastic or NetWare networks
for $99. Customers who purchased StationWare applications
separately may upgrade to version 2.0 for $50 for the
complete LANtastic or NetWare bundle. Finally, customers who
purchased StationWare software after November 4, 1992 can
get their software upgraded for free.
Artisoft develops and manufactures a full line of innovative,
cost-effective network communication solutions including the
LANtastic Local Area Network. Recognized as the leader in
peer-to-peer networking for DOS and Windows(TM) environments,
the LANtastic network now offers multiplatform connectivity
solutions for NetWare, Macintosh(R) and TCP/IP systems. It
allows up to 300 users of IBM(R)-compatible computers to
connect and share information and peripheral devices such as
printers, hard drives and CD-ROMs and has won numerous
industry awards for its cost-effective features, performance
and ease of use. Artisoft distributes its hardware and
software products in over 70 countries worldwide and
maintains international offices in the Netherlands, the
United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, Japan,
Latin America and Canada.
